Kathleen Brasfield, OD

Owner / Doctor of Optometry

Dr. Brasfield grew up in Jackson, MS and graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi. She received her Doctorate of Optometry in 2008 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN and afterward completed a 1 year hospital based residency at the Memphis VA Medical Center. In 2009 she moved to East Nashville and fell in love with the neighborhood. After working at practices around Middle Tennessee for seven years, Dr. Brasfield happily started an independent optometry practice and boutique optical near her home in East Nashville in 2016.

Dr. Brasfield is passionate about helping those with dry eye. From in office treatments such as IPL and Low Level Light Therapy, to specialized eye drops and remedies, she is always happy to discuss the many new options for dry eye treatment.

She sees patients age 4 and up, and is licensed to diagnose and manage ocular diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes. Dr. Brasfield also specializes in contact lens fitting, including one-days, toric for astigmatism, gas permeable, and bifocal contacts.

Dr. Brasfield currently serves as the Middle Tennessee Trustee for the Tennessee Associaction of Optometirc Physicians. She lives in Lockeland Springs with her husband, Joe, their daughters Linden and Ramona and cats Toothless and Oliver. In her free time, Kathleen enjoys hot yoga, traveling the world and visiting all of the amazing establishments on the East Side.

 

JOE BRASFIELD, OWNER, PRACTICE MANAGER, Licensed OPTICIAN

Joe grew up in Dyersburg, TN and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics and Finance. During his eight years in Murfreesboro, he spent half that time touring the country with punk / emo / hardcore bands and being very involved in the underground Nashville music scene in the late 90s and early 2000s. Upon graduation in 2005, he finally moved up I-24 from Murfreesboro to Nashville. After reverse commuting to work at Allstate Insurance for ten years, Joe decided to help his wife open her amazing practice and optical in 2016.

Joe lives in Lockeland Springs with his wife and their daughters, Linden and Ramona, who attend Rosebank Elementary. In his free time, Joe enjoys soccer - Nashville SC season tickets!, traveling the world and gallivanting around town with his wife and girls.

Emily Burgon, od, faoo / Doctor of Optometry

Dr. Emily Burgon was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and graduated Summa Cum Laude from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then earned her Doctorate in Optometry from Salus/Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, PA in 2013, and then completed a 1 year primary care residency at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. She became a fellow of the Academy of Optometry in 2017. Dr. Burgon worked in a group practice in Raleigh, NC for 4 years and relocated to Nashville, TN in 2018. She has a special interest in management of ocular disease such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes. Dr. Burgon has a passion for providing good patient care and connecting with her patients.

She currently lives in Germantown with her husband. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, food enthusiasm, and experiencing art in all forms : especially live music, movies, and theatre.

Makyla / Front desk

Makyla's smiling face is usually who you will see behind the front desk at Look East.  She recently moved to Nashville from Indianapolis, Indiana but has been working in administration for 6 years. She really enjoys interacting and communicating with our patients. When she's not answering the phones at Look East, Makyla likes spending time with her dog, friends and family. 

Zeihkia / optometric technician

Zeihkia is our clinic's Optometrist Technician. She enjoys educating patients on the cool technology needed to assess ocular health and training patients for contacts. Zeihkia graduated with her Masters of Health Science from Meharry Medical College in May 2023 and plans to spend the next 4 years of her life at Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine. When she's not being a nerd for medicine, she enjoys learning more about her relationship with God, spends very long hours in the park, and loves her playful cat-son, Soot.

Sarah / frame stylist

Sarah is a proud East Nashvillian who loves sharing her eyewear expertise and working with the people in her local community.  When she isn’t thrifting, she enjoys going to Nashville Predators games, caring for her plants, and playing with her dog, Banjo. She loves all things vintage and is especially fond of her 1950’s inspired home decor.  Sarah's favorite line is Andy Wolf because of its unique shapes and retro styles.

 

Evan / Frame stylist

Evan was born and raised in Nashville and has been working in the optometric industry since he was 13. He has done it all but now spends most of his time in the optical helping our patients find the perfect frame. Evan is also in school pursuing his degree in Biology. Whenever he can find time between work and school he spends it at the gym, listening to or playing music, socializing downtown, and watching sports. His favorite frame line is Ahlem. “They just don’t miss the little details, they’ve done a great job appealing to people who notice the little things.”

Christen / Frame stylist

A native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Christen started out as a technician in the Eyecare industry in 2013. She now enjoys working in Optical where she can fit you for glasses! Her favorite line is "Kirk and Kirk" for their bright and colorful frames! On her days off she enjoys spending time with her growing family and beloved pets at home. You might catch her celebrating her favorite team - Go Steelers!

anna / frame stylist

Originally from Rochester, New York, Anna has been in Optical since she was 17 years old. In her free time, she enjoys coaching and attending Crossfit classes, and spending time outdoors. Her current favorite frame line is Theo, because it allows each patient to express themselves, and have fun with their everyday look.
